It was in June 1997, following a number of impromptu performances at local events, that a group of men from Knowle Parish Church choir decided to form the St John Singers. Over the next 5 years the 12 strong male voice choir, under the directorship of Rose Watts, successfully performed at many charity fund-raising events in the Solihull area.

After around 5 years, Derek Sheldon, former Choir Master and Director of Music at Knowle Parish Church, became the new Musical Director of the choir. It was decided at this time to re-name the choir, and so Knowle Male Voice Choir was born.

Today members number around 20.

Over the past 10 years the choir has helped to raise thousands of pounds for local and national charities and welcomes approaches by local charities who would like the choir to be a part of their fund-raising.
